Communication With Colleagues At Work English Language Essay

Communication With Colleagues At Work English Language EssayEvery day at lap up we stool to transcend with colleagues.Well, if plenty are nice, then parley has friendly character.Unfortunately, this it is non always true.Sometimes, angiotensin-converting enzyme man can create tensions to the whole team, not only fuck up the mood, but also to bring up much(prenominal) unpleasant consequences, much(prenominal) as dismissal. But such people are mosttimes enough to deal to come about justly, and most of the problems impart disappear by themselves. The first unpleasant character is a gossip. As a rule, these people exude friendliness that initially influences positioning. But if you submit to this provocation, and tell us ab place something mortalal, no later than tomorrow, all your secrets exit become public.A friend shared with colleagues his dream I want to accumulate some money and secure a car.Two days later, when the entire department received bonuses, his bonus was much smaller than the center of the rest.On the timid questions addressed to the magistrate Why it happened there wasnt any criticism of my work? Boss was hinted that this employee has a lot of money because he is going to buy a car.So, before you speak frankly with the soulfulness, look at this issue more closely.Another very unpleasant type of people are brawlers. They cannot wear peacefully, so as constantly need some enemy, even if it is fictional.Such people are poisoned by the existence of relatives at home and at work colleagues.A quarrel or explanation of the relationship is not needed. It is enough to perplex one hint, even a look and youre waiting for the next tear of anger.Talking to such people is useless. The best way is to ignore them completely, but not for the effect, otherwise it will be another cause for scandal. If suddenly there appears a brawler and has attention on you, at the outset of the conflict it would be better to pretend that suddenly echoed a v ery important matter, apologize and leave. re good turn(a) 15 minutes later, youll probably see that the brawler is calm and even forgot that he wanted to shed light on relations with you.If this method fails, you can try to show such a colleague involved.Usually, its discouraging such people, and they once and for all leave you alone, as they used to feel like winners, and the role of victim does not courting them.According to Peter Clarke (2005), the main purpose of communication between people is to r distributively mutual intellectual. But its not easy to do.Why do some people with us communicate easily, and others difficult? Why with someone we get along, but with someone all the time we quarrel?Clearly, much easier is to establish relationships with the person with whom there is so-called common ground. In the art of communication, it is very important to be able to listen and understand someone with whom you speak.Explaining the people of your intentions and ideas from wh ich you start at the same time, you will be able to prevent many misunderstandings, quarrels and conflicts.Honesty in a conversation with someone it is often the only way out of conflict. But the truth must speak out not to humiliate the interlocutor, but rather to elevate his own in his own eyes and to clarify your position. What hinders and what facilitates communication?Causes of misunderstanding between people can be different political, religious beliefs, worldview, and psychological characteristics. However, the main reason lies in the inability to hear each other. The most important part of communication is listening skills. If a person listens attentively to his boyfriend, then he is brought up, delves into the problem of the speaker and the like help him properly formulate their thoughts.Communication is a complex process it is influenced by various factors mood set of circumstances the nature of man his sociability conversely shyness.Depending on the type of communication, f ormal or informal, it is necessary to choose the right demeanor, tone, gestures, words and expressions.According to Carole Hodges (2009), informal communication is communication at home, with parents and friends, formal at work, sequence studying, with unfamiliar people. In conversation, we often assume what interferes with understanding. This is the usage of offensive words and phrases, offensive nicknames, unnecessary cuts.Attention signs facilitate inter individualized relationships and can soothe and have a lasting impact.Hello, thank you, please, sorry these are the simple words have power over our moods. It is important that they are always present in communication between people at work, in public places. So what is the culture of communication? If a person is competent to express his thoughts, then he is able to behave with respect for the other party, we say that this man owns a culture of communication. there are rules, implementation of which helps to establish good rela tions with people Communication on equal terms, without being coarse and subservience. Respect for the personal opinion of the interlocutor Lack of entrust to find out who is right and who is to foot Community-level requests, not orders Search for compromise solutions The ability to appreciate the decision of another Ability to accept the experience of others. If a person does not know how to trades union in the conversation, you should choose any interesting topic for conversation and the time when the person to whom addressed, not occupied any work.Always remember that the other person is not like you, and we must be able to see things through his eyes, especially in conflict situations.Respect for the individual is impossible without respect for his channel of view, even if it does not converge with yours.Cultivation ones respect for the people can only be if you learn to see each person individually, that is, those traits that are unique to him.According to Harriet Meyerso n (2005), each of us is worthy of respect.Respecting the other, you respect yourself. Psychologists give good advice, which is do not forget about the interests of your contact.Your lively and sincere interest in doing what he is interested in, because he will have animation and enthusiasm. on that point are some important rules of open and honest conversation with inconvenient companion to be aware of both adults and adolescents use the word I.Since the phrase with the words From my point of view or The way I see it , you are relaxed in conversation and show the other party that there was only my point of view, no claim to ultimate truth. Thus you will recognize the right to have your own opinion.Surely, you will listen to people a lot calmer and more attentively. Also, trying to show the other person that his conduct is in the first place. In order to create conditions under which an adult would want to change your behavior, you must try to explain how much they lose in life becau se of his own behavior. There is a possibility also to ask the other person to change behavior. It can be explained to him exactly what he can do in this situation in order to fix it.It is possible that, because you do not want to offend him, it will be quite difficult to tell him the truth. But remember silent, you can cause him harm.Of course, someone can say that such way of building relationships is too long, but it takes much less time, energy and emotions than the communication of action-reaction, because such talk does not give any result. Most often, honesty is the best policy in dealing with people. Its amazing how often we are beginning to communicate with the cunning strategies and tactics while forgetting to try at first just to speak openly.Honest dialogue is the most effective, simple and reliable means for turning conflict into cooperation. Now I would like to elaborate on the concept of informal communication. Each of us has his own experience of friendship at work.Altho ugh the prospects for such relationships many consider skeptical. And no wonderInformal communication between colleagues suggests a greater openness, the ability to strike a balance between personal and work, the adoption of the inevitable differences in the credentials and prospects (the difference in salary levels of access to information, the rate to move up the career ladder).Hard tests for the friendship What do you do?Without claiming to be comprehensive, lets try to answer this eternal question. We must admit that informal communication is an important mechanism that contributes to the relationship between people in any group.Formally, we will call the communication that takes place in accordance with rules, regulations and instructions, existing in your organization or its subdivision and subject to address the special challenges facing you. Informal communication this is your kind of relationship with another person, based on mutual acceptance of personal qualities and vir tues, which implies a veritable level of understanding, harmony, psychological closeness. It is in these respects satisfies the need for self-realization within the framework of this work, respect and acceptance.According to Stephen Rampur (2010), informal relationships exist on two levels of psychological closeness the elemental and rational. Primary level represents already the impression with the first contact (long acquaintance is not required, a feeling that you know a person a nose candy years). It is characterized by high spontaneity of emotional perception, unawareness and little amenable to volitional regulation.Rational level is based on an understanding of the similarities attitudes, values, norms and life experiences. It occurs at a certain stage of relations with the man, understood and controlled by us.It is believed, that a relationships based on shared values and interests are more stable at work rather than relationships based on likes and dislikes. If you look clos ely at your existing team of informal relations, they are likely to be secured in one of five forms of interaction Couple represents the two people that are mutually sympathetic to each other.Often, one of them is a supplement or companion of another. trilateral shows three people sympathizing with each other, and make up his small, yet very close core group. Square can be formed as a collection of pairs, the relationship between them does not necessarily have the same intensity. Chain is a linear relationship between several people, which under certain conditions can become a source of rumors. Star is based on one leader opinion, to whom are approached several members of the team. Each of these forms of informal communication in one way or another arises in any workplace with a specific purpose namely, the best adaptation to its internal rules and laws of existence.According to Jeanne Segal (2007), in every company, as in any formal group, there are informal relations, which l argely determine the climate and the internal atmosphere in the team. Thus, friendships at work and at its end, cooperation and mutual help shape a healthy psychological climate in the company and provide a basis for the learning of each member organization and collective as a whole.Psychologists believe that friendship is very good for business if the business grows out of shared interests. There is no matter how closely you communicate with people on a personal level, formal relations are sensitive, which cannot be discounted. There is always a risk that one of the friends will show himself as a traitor.Elucidation of relationships, mutual resentment and claims become the property of the whole team. As a result, suffers a general matter, and friendship. But the forecast could be optimistic, if a working friendship follows the main rule to clearly separate personal and business interests. That is why, if you are not sure whether that will be able to muster the necessary tact, and co mply with the above restrictions, it is better not to take risks and work with friendsin different companies. victorious into consideration mentioned above, I would like to make a conclusion. To be in harmony with yourself and the people around you, you need to create an atmosphere of mutual understanding at work, to build up contacts. Often we get tired, cant avoid conflict situations.Everybody has many reasons to spoil relations with colleagues. We cannot avoid difficulties at work, because difficult, controversial issues will always exist. But we can learn the ability to keep ourselves in hand, to live in harmony with people close to us.What is the basis of art communication and what methods to use? First of all, try to relate friendly to everybody try to create an atmosphere of comfort among friends and colleagues. Do not fare your home problems to your colleagues. If you feel stress, or fatigue, use relaxation techniques.Endurance helps to behave you correctly in a conflict situ ation. In general, avoid emotional showdown, do not engage in protracted disputes. But if a conflict occurs, try not to develop it calmly and analyze what can be done to normalize the situation.Be on the watch to compromise for the sake of good relations. In communicating with colleagues, try to be genuinely interested in their affairs, to help when needed.Listen more than talk.Limit the desire to condemn anyone who made a mistake. If you have to solve a complex issue in the service or at home, do not transfer responsibility to others, to develop the habit of self-confident action. Continuing to study the literature on how to work on them, improve their psychological stability.Perhaps this knowledge will help you choose the right course of action, and will contribute to a pleasant chat with colleagues.

Effects of Risperidone in Children with Autism

Effects of Risperid ane in Children with AutismCrystal BranchANOVA Article CritiqueResearchers complied detailed data regarding two groups a try on group and a controlled group of children to study the cognitive effects of risperidone in children with autism and irritable sort. The study employed specific measurements designed to determine if children with autism and irritable behavior have an increase of cognitive doance while taking up to 3.5 mg of risperidone. Recently a few studies have assessed cognitive effects of risperidone in children with severe behavioral disturbance. Gnther et al. (2006) assessed open-label risperidone in 23 children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and disruptive behavior disorders (DBDs) and in normal controls matched for board and IQ.This was a multi-site investigation that was conducted at tailfin medical centers. After being assessed at the screen visit, participants who met inclusion criteria for the study were then reassess ed with clinical instruments at baseline and weekly for the next 8 weeks. So, researchers immovable to conduct a double-blind placebo controlled groups on their attention span, how well their verbal learning skills are, diminished or improved hand/eye coordination, and spatial memory was evaluated. severally of the areas was measured before, during and after 8 weeks of participation. All changes in performance were compared by repeated measures ANOVA.Will the use of risperidone in doses 0.5 up to 3.5 mg/day researchers unavoidableness to know the research what the overall effect the drug has the on cognitive performance of children ages of 5-17 years old, diagnosed with autism and that suffer from irritable behavior. The review will show what was apply to assess the variables and statistical methods created to decide if the study produced any valid result. The authors want to know answers through research if there are actually any meaningful effects the drug actually has on co gnitive processing abilities in autistic children that also suffer from irritable behavior that uses risperidone. Through research and study, the authors looked for answers to this question and set a hypothesis they created around their research study. The authors implied that the null hypothesis (Ho) is that there would be no difference between placebo and risperidone (Aman, M. G., Hollway, J. A., McDougle, C. J., Scahill, L., Tierney, E., McCracken, J. T., . . . Posey, D. J. (2008).The alternative hypothesis (Ha) should intend that there would be a difference between cognitive performance of the sample group vs the controlled group. A total of 38 children between the ages of 5-17 years of age were a part of the sample group, these children have been diagnosed with autism and severe behavior disturbance.Any participants receiving psychotropic medicines before the study went through a washout for at to the lowest degree 2 weeks prior to randomization (4 weeks for antipsychotics or fluoxetine). Cognitive assessments were done at Baseline, Week 4 and Week 8. Participants were started at either 0.25 or 0.50 mg with inactive adjustments over the first four weeks. Maximum dose for smaller subjects (15-45 kg) was 2.5 mg/day, whereas the maximum dose for larger participants (45 kg.) could be as high as 3.5 mg/day (1).As protocol requires during this period as in any clinical study, the subjects did not receive any form of their usual treatment so the effects of any current treatments are eliminated or assumed to be eliminated from their system for the benefit of this study. Instead of immediately stopping and starting any current treatment, there will be a 2-4week time period where the treatment from the first drug is washed out of the patients system.Study participants were male and female children or adolescents, ages 5 to 17 years 2 months, with mental ages 18 months who had autism and severe behavioral disturbance. To be enrolled in the study, participants re ceived a score of 18 on the Irritability subscale of the Aberrant Behavior Checklist (ABC) (Aman and Singh 1994). In addition, participants must have been rated with a Clinical Global Impressions-Severity (CGI-S) score of 4 by an experienced clinician (CGI-S NIMH 1985, Arnold et al. 2000), and according to the diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th Edition (DSM-IV) (American Psychiatric Association, 1994) a lifetime diagnosis of autistic disorder. The diagnosis of autism was based on a clinical evaluation that included a DSM-IV interview with a parent and direct observation of the participants. The clinical diagnosis was corroborated by structured interview with one or more parents acting as informants, using the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (Lord et al. 1994).This study has several limitations that caution against over-embracing the statistically-significant (and one equivocal) findings. First, given the exploratory nature of this work (there is only one other study of atypical antipsychotics in children with PDDs), we adopted the .05 level for alpha. Had we corrected for multiple comparisons, none of the comparisons would have exceeded alpha. Second, only a minority of our participants were able to perform these tasks. This resulted in (a) small sample sizes and (b) the observation that the testable group had a higher IQ and was older than the untestable group.Despite these obvious limitations, the findings are singular for several reasons. First, autistic disorder is often coupled with a substantial cognitive disability. Secondly, the significant diversification, indicated by partial eta squared, indicates substantial gains in adaptive skills if upheld by future studies. Next, it is noteworthy to point out that data assembled from various sites under double-blind conditions, which may help to dismiss any individual examiner effects. Finally, the mechanism of any improvement is unknown.

Determination of Heavy Metals in Cow Milk

Determination of Heavy Metals in Cow MilkThe browbeat draw feeding concept of infants, in the larger parts of Lake Victoria basin of Kenya, for about the first six months after birth, has immensely invigorated the liaison in investigating the presence and levels of some effectual metals in cows draw. Toxi city of a heavy metal depends on its fractional bioavailability and assiduity in the environment, thereof its speciation is of great importance. The knowledge of concentrations of toxicant heavy metals same atomic number 48, chromium, copper, iron, go out and zinc in cows take out is hence very incumbent.Fresh take out essays from suckle cows allow for be obtained by self milking into sterilized polyethene bottles and labeled according to time, date, fixing and replicate. Other parameters that will be collected from the leash locations on the basis of 7-day interval and thereafter analyzed include grass feeds, sediments, wet, soil, and lactating cows faecal drops and urine. This information therefore gives a suitable back reasonableness for assessing and find the concentrations of heavy metal contaminants on cows and their subsequent intake by human.Few drops of 0.1 M trichloroacetic acid will be added to the sample for coagulation and the aqueous layer heated at 500C for one hour. Digestion will be done with 0.5 M nitric acid as presence and concentration of heavy metals analyzed using an Atomic Absorption Spectrop swelteringometer, AAS.Statistical analysis will be conducted using MSTATC two factor complete randomized bend introduction, with the heavy metal concentration as the main factor with the locations as the sub treatment. The package will perform analysis of variance (ANOVA) at P 0.05 with two factor experiment and students T-test at P 0.05. The mean, standard deviation, range and linear correlation co-efficient on the measured parameters will be determined. The study is pass judgment to give an indication of the impre ssion of mothers and infants in the region to the heavy metals and also ascertain the safety of absolute milk feeding of infants. This study will be conducted in Kisumu city, at the shore of Lake Victoria, Kenya.Key words Heavy metals, infants, cows milk and contamination.2.0 INTRODUCTION2.1 BackgroundHuman and animals confirm been exposed to heavy metal toxicity for an immeasurable time. The industries have dramatically increased the overall environmental load of the toxins to levels that they are present in every field of force of modern consumerism. Therefore, it is necessary to know the environmental fate of all xenobiotics so as to predict their persistence and possible do on non-target organisms (Kengara F.O 2004).Anthropogenic activities appear to play an definitive role in this study since, in the past, solid wastes have been dumped by residents in their noteive localities. In an apparent attempt to keep the environment clean, in Kisumu city, the local authorities, in t he past four years have collected and dumped the solid wastes at a new site, Nyalenda Kachok, Kisumu. Similarly lorry-loads from all over the citys supermarkets, industrial set-ups, petrol stations, residences and markets dump theirs solid wastes at the site.Cadmium, chromium, copper, iron, lead and zinc are among the most common heavy metals known as contaminants in the environment and therefore come affront as hazardous substances to both human and animal health (Roberts J.R, 1999). This is overdue to wide spread environmental pollution by materials containing them like batteries, paints, pipes, soldering rods, pesticides, fungicides, gasoline, engine oils, chemical fertilizers or when they occur in high amounts in air, soil, water, plants and other compounded animal feeds. They therefore increase concentrations of heavy metals in air, water, soil and subsequently interpreted by plants and animals into their food chain (Ahmad, W.M.S, 2002). The presence of heavy metals in cows mi lk may be attributed to contamination of the professional one, which may be due to exposure of lactating cow to environmental pollution or consumption of contaminated feeding stuffs and water (Carl M, 1991).This occurrence croupe lead to considerable concentrations in human body since they are not metabolized therefore poses a serious risk to human health when consumed even in small amounts (Selinger B, 1979).Most of them, like cadmium, lead and mercury persist in the body and exert their toxic effect by combining with one or more reactive groups essential for normal physiological functions of the cells thus causing cellular disturbances or clinical manifestation. The adverse toxic effects fatherd by lead, cadmium mercury are widely recognized (Friberg, L. and Elinder, C.G, 1988). The major clinical signs in animals and man for lead and copper poisoning include, among others, deviations of the hematological parameters due to their figure effects on hematopoiesis, reduced integrit y of red blood cells membrane leading to intravascular haemolysis, anemia and dehydration (Radostits O. M. et al., 1994). Therefore hematological parameters have diagnostic value in animals suspected of heavy metal toxicity (Mlay P.S and Migumia Y.O, 2008). Man becomes at risk by eating food and drinking fluids contaminated with heavy metals, through air, direct contact with the metals like in people working in car wash or body spraying industries or factories dealing with heavy metals and their derivatives (Farr G, 2001).Kisumu city is endowed with relatively many but small enterprises dealing with metal works, car maintenance and repair (Jua Kali Sheds), construction works that pose a risk of contamination to the environment with hazardous substances including heavy metals. Subsistence farming and husbandry are quite enhanced in its neighborhoods. The foregone information prompts the desire to investigate the presence of some heavy metals in cows milk. The data generated will assist the concerned city planners, institutions and bodies charged with environmental control and surveillance to train measures and policies that would firmly govern the dumping of solid wastes, re-locate the site and authoritatively bar animals from feeding on the wastes.2.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEMThe presence and concentration of heavy metals in water, sediments, soil and cows milk urine and faecal drops are unknown. This means that both man and animals likely assimilate the heavy metal contaminants unabated, thus endangering their lives.2.3 justification OF THE RESEARCHThe toxic heavy metals from the possible sources as stated above continue to get into the environment and the biota. This phenomenon is a real threat to the human flavor therefore it is an urgent issue that the study needs to address. It is important to note that with the known concept of milk feeding of infants for the first six months after birth, either through mothers breasts or other sources like cow milk, mor e so in the rural set-ups, presents a possible lethal exposure route of heavy metal poisoning. The clinical manifestations that un-permissible levels of the heavy metals cause to both man and animals are fatal and expensive to treat thus jeopardize the economic progress of the affect community. The dumping point at the present site has continued to pollute the air due to organics releasing poisonous gases when they decompose and burnt. The constant burning of the wastes has hindered visibility, caused subsisting difficulty and eye-aches to the road users as the site is at the high way and the entrance to the city. It is therefore a rude welcome to the tourists visiting the city. Therefore, the study will give an indication of the exposure of mothers and infants in the region to the heavy metals and also ascertain the safety of absolute milk feeding of infants.2.4 HYPOTHESIS(i) The solid wastes dumped at the dumping site at Kachok, Kisumu city, contain toxic heavy metals like cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), lead (Pb), manganese (Mn), and zinc (Zn) .(ii) The animals that feed on the wastes take-up the heavy metals into their body systems.3.0 LITERATURE REVIEWHeavy metals are elements with detail density of 5gcm3, at least five times as the specific gravity of water (Florea T et al., 2006) and (Steven, D, 2003). They have been found in human breast milk and shown to affect health in infants. This may be due to mothers being susceptible to chemicals mostly in foods. Inhalation and dermal routes are possible though they are insignificant. Heavy metals, mercury, lead, arsenic, cadmium, bismuth, antimony most often fragment immune function, neurological and endocrine functions. many common effects of heavy metal toxicity include brain fogginess. Insomnia in children, memory loss, dementia tremors cargo area development (Molin J, 2000). Due to their toxic nature, the human body upon assimilation begins to get rid of them through the organs such as the skin, l iver, kidney and through urine and sweat. However, this motion is quite strenuous thus burdens and damages the organs (Bentum J.K, et al., 2010).Unfortunately human milk is one of the routes of elimination this burden, and therefore a source of exposure to infants (Oskarsson A, 1998). Some of these metals are stored in the mothers bones and are extracted from her to provide calcium for the development of the childs bones. As a result, they enter the maternal blood and breast milk during pregnancy and lactation, thus exposing the fetus and infants to risk (Sonawane R.B, 1994). However, at permissible levels, some of them are essential for normal physiological functions in animal tissues (Ahmed, E.E.K, et al., 1999).Dietary deficiencies of copper, zinc, calcium, iron, protein and excess fats cause an increase in the absorption and toxicity of lead (Goldfrank, L.R. et al., 1990).While copper is a trace element in various metabolic functions in the body, lead and other heavy metals ha ve no function in the body and can be highly toxic due to interference directly in metabolic pathways or indirectly by causing deficiencies of other trace metals (Farr G, 2004). Excessively higher levels of the metals in milk and tissues of animals suggest an exposure either from the air, soil, water or feeds or all of these sources (Farr G, 2001) and (Dupler D, 2001).Animals can tolerate elevated levels of these metals though at certain levels clinical signs of toxicity manifest which can be swell or chronic when there is low exposure for a long time since these metals bio-accumulate in the body (IARC, 1997) and (Allcroft R, 1951).Heavy metals like cadmium, lead and mercury have been sight in breast milk in many parts of the world and have different means and ranges (Appendix 6.1).In many parts of the world, they go on the recommended limits (Oskarson A et al., 1995) age in others lead has been found in breast milk between 5-20 ppb (Rabinowitz M et al., 1985). This may be attri buted to the fact that sources of lead exposure are numerous ranging from ceramic and pottery glazed with lead, electronic works, welding and solders, jewelry making and repairing, certain hair dyes, automobile repairs (ATSDR, 1990).The presence of cadmium has been detected in breast milk as 0.28 g/litre. It is found in many components of vehicles and in electrical and electronic equipment (Honda R et al., 2003).Cadmiums levels in breast milk have also been associated with cigarette smoking. Arsenic has not been thoroughly studied in breast milk but is however known to cause crabmeat in humans (Radisch B and Luck W, 1987).METHODOLOGY4.1 Sampling and Sampling DesignA Two factor completely randomized block design will be employed in sampling where one of the locations will be considered as a block. They will be spread out at bottom 8 km apart. The samples will be taken within an interval of seven days. Table2 shows the experimental design detailing the number of samples per location and the sampling intervals of 7 days, 14 days and 21 days (Table 2)Key D= Days Re= Replicates Lo= Locations4.2 Study AreaThe study area will be at the shore of Lake Victoria, Kisumu city and its environs within the area limits of 00 51 South and Longitude 0041 North and longitudes 330 20- 35020 East and an altitude of 528m above the sea level. The following locations will be picked for the studyLocation 1 Nyalenda-Kachok whose animals feed and graze at the dumping site- suspected to be polluted with the metals.Location 2 Mamboleo 8 km northern eastern outskirts of the city with relative high animal husbandry.Location 3 Chiga 8 km- eastern outskirts of the city with subsistence and light animal husbandry. The choice of the sampling areas 2 and 3 is based on the fact that the cows graze freely in their areas but can not reach the dumping site where plainly those from location 1 access for herbage. All samples will be collected from 5 (hence five replicates) randomly selected points from each of the three locations 1, 2 and 3 and straight off taken to the laboratory for preparation, digestion and analysis at Chemistry Laboratory, Maseno University, Kenya.4.3 SAMPLES COLLECTION4.3.1 Cow Milk assayBy self milking into sterilized polyethylene bottles, about 50ml snotty-nosed milk samples will be collected from five lactating cows from randomly selected homes in each location on a three day milking interval in the morning (i.e 50ml x 5cows x3 locations x 3 milking intervals = 2,250 ml will be collected in total. The samples will then be jam-packed into ice-bags and labeling will be done with respect to time, date, location and replicate.4.3.2 Urine Sample50ml urine sample will be randomly collected from each lactating cow (whose milk is sampled) from its shed. The samples will then be wrapped and buttoned with sterilized polythene papers, packed into ice-bags and labeled according to time, date, location and replicate.4.3.3 Faecal Drops SampleIn each location , approximately 100g of faecal drops will be randomly collected from each of the five lactating cows (whose milk is sampled) from their sheds, wrapped and tied with sterilized polythene paper, packed into ice-bags and labeled according to time, date, location and replicate.4.3.4 Water SampleAbout 50ml of water samples from five different points in each location will be placed in clean unused 100ml charge plate bottles with screw caps The points are across the swamp and dam for locations 1 and 3 while five equidistant spots along the stream that passes through the grazing area of location 2.All the samples will then be packed into ice-bags and labeling will be done with respect to time, date, location and replicate.4.3.5 Grass Feeds and landed estate SampleGrass feeds will be cut at approximately1 cm height from the ground in an area of 1x1m2, (within five randomly selected cattle grazing ground per location), bundled, labeled and packed in clean polythene bags.At the centre of the 1x1m2 area where grass feeds are taken, the topsoil will be dug to 12 cm depth at an area of 24x24cm2.The soil will then be put in clean polythene bags and labeled according time, date, location and replicate.4.3.6 Sediment SampleFive sediment sub-samples will be randomly taken in each location. Approximately top 2 cm surface layer will be collected with a strainer and the samples packed and labeled with respect to time, date, location and replicate.4.4 PREPARATION, DIGESTION, ANALYSIS AND QUANTITATION4.4.1 Cow Milk SamplesFive drops of 0.1 M trichloroacetic acid will be added to the cow- milk sample to precipitate the proteins, and the aqueous layer of the milk separated by centrifugation. 5 ml of the aqueous layer will be placed in porcelain crucible and heated in a furnace at a temperature of 500 0C for about 45 minutes.Thereafter, 3 ml of 0.5M nitric will be added and then filtered through Whatman filter paper (No 40) into a 10ml step cylinder. Further 0.5M nitric acid will b e added to the 10 ml mark of the measuring cylinder. The concentrations of Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Pb, and Zn in blank and the milk samples will be analyzed with an AAS.4.4.2 Urine and Water Samples100ml of each sample will be boiled till complete dryness. 10ml of conc. nitric acid will be added to the sample and boiled close to dryness then diluted to 20 ml with de-ionized water. The solution will be filtered and the filtrate taken for AAS analysis for Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Pb, and Zn.4.4.3 Quantitation of heavy metals in milk, urine and water samplesConcentrations of Cd, Cu, Fe, Pb, Mn, Se and Zn in examined samples will be calculated according to the following equation-Mg/kg in examined samples = AxB/WA= mg/kg of metal in prepared samples (obtained by calibration).B= final volume of prepared sample in ml.W= exercising weight of samples in grams.4.4.4. Quantitation of Heavy Metals in Faecal Drops, Grass, Sediments Soil SamplesThe samples will be rinsed with de-ionized water several times and separately air-dried on open plastic bags for 24 hours, ground in a mortar to obtain small particles of uniform size, thus large surface area. Conventional aqua regia digestion will be performed in 250ml glass beakers covered with watch glasses. A well-mixed sample of 0.50 g each of the samples will be digested in 12ml of aqua regia on a hot plate for 3 h at 110C.After evaporation to near dryness, the sample will be diluted with 20 ml of 2% (v/v with H2O) nitric acid and transferred into a 100-ml volumetric flask after filtering through Whatman filter paper grade 40 and diluted to 100 ml with de-ionized distilled water thereafter analyzed for levels of Cd, Cu, Fe, Pb, Mn, Se and Zn using AAS.5.0 REFERENCES1. Essay --

Niall Killian Killian 1Samson 6LeukemiaLeukemia is cancer of the blood cells it starts in the bone inwardness which is the soft tissue inside most bones where blood cells are made. When you are healthy your bone marrow makes red and snow-clad blood cells. Red and white blood cells help your body fight infection and carry oxygen to all parts of your body. When you have leukemia, the bone marrow makes a unusual amount of abnormal white blood cells known as leukemia cells. Leukemia cells dont work like normal white blood cells, they grow hurrying and they dont stop growing when they should. Over time, the leukemia cells crowd out and outnumber the normal blood cells which can lead to serious problems such as anemia, bleeding, and infections. Leukemia cells can as well spread to the lymph nodes or other organs causing serious swelling and pain. Many wonder how one acquires leukemia and is it genetic. The answer is yes and no, various connections betwixt heredity and leukemia has been found due to the few Leukemia causing factors that are inherited. Scientists have researched to see if there is any connection with foreign causes, but there is no relationship between external causes and leukemia. The cause for leukemia is still unknown. An experiment was conducted in the UK in 2010 where they tested if leukemia was more common in males or females. In males, it is the 9th most common cancer and in females it was the 10th most common cancer. That year there were 8,257 new cases of leukemia in the UK, 4,816 were men and 3,441 were women. It varies for age groups as well. 62% of cases were diagnosed in men and women everywhere the age of 65, and only 10% were diagnosed to men and women under the age of 35. The reason why Leukemia is more common i... ...p 1 and gap 2. Due to this the cell divides at a unnatural rate and causes many mutations. Cancer always starts with just one cell dividing at a rapid rate due to external or genetic factors, and while genetic factors are uncontrollable, most forms of cancer can be avoided by for example using sunscreen to avoid UV rays or choosing not to smoke. Some cancers are simply not avoidable like Leukemia, but if you keep a close eye on it, it is treatable specially if it is caught early. The symptoms of Leukemia are good indicators that your body is not healthy, so you shouldnt pass off confusion, vomiting, or seizures as anything not important especially if you have a family history of cancer. Over 38,000 patients are diagnosed with leukemia each year and it can happen to anybody, so regular blood tests are highly recommended because the sooner you find out, the better.

The Civil Rights Movement :: Equality Segregation Racism Essays

The fight for equality and against segregation has ever so been a noble fight. barely is inflicting your rage onto those who have inflicted theirs upon you keep your aristocracy or just bring yours d give birth to their level? Especially when there is a great deal of emphasis being used. This never-ending battle surrounded by the blacks and the whites has tormented the U.S. for years and still goes on in some areas. During the 1950s 1960s the civil rights movement was at its peek. This was when the African-Americans were growing impatient and could not keep a minute longer before they had their constitutional and God given rights. legion(predicate) peaceful border districtes, sit-ins, and boycotts were usually always greeted at the end with police, attack dogs, firemen, and ambulances. African- Americans started their own police force called The Black Panther Party so they can supposedly arm themselves against the white state. darn others such as Malcolm X move to convince black people that the whites were not going to help them and that they have to stand up for their own rights. Many riots were also taking place across the nation destroying many cities. After wait for 300 years so they can have rights that every kind-hearted being should naturally have they were baseless and angry people are not very reasonable. As a result of getting rid of desegregation many people come up with peaceful marches, sit-ins, and boycotts as a solution. This was when hundreds or maybe thousands of young and old black people gathered more or less as a group so they can be heard and seen by everyone. Their goals would always vary but they would never stop until they have reached them, correct though it may include violence. A good example would be in Birmingham, Alabama on May 2, 1963. Their goals were to try to stop integration in public facilities and department stores. The leaders were Dr. Martin Luther big businessman and Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth. Early on April 12, 1963 they were arrested for marching when the governor told them not to. Directly on their release on April 20 they planned their second march. Their second march included a thousand people and when they barely started marching a block away the police commissioner was waiting for them and brutally arrested 900 people. The next day 25,000 people came out to march including many children. This time instead of arresting them they sprayed water and let loose attack dogs. The genteel Rights Movement Equality Segregation Racism EssaysThe fight for equality and against segregation has always been a noble fight. Students :: essays research papers

Students that struggle with recital in school is not a new problem. This has been achallenge for teachers for years and continues to be an produce in school systems nationwide. Asstated in video program quintuple, While a childs development may be delayed, the developmentalpattern will remain the same. (Bear, 2004 ). This really lets school officials know that these students be reachable, but the teachers need to provide appropriate instruction for the studentsdevelopmental level. There are several things to be considered such as grouping, type ofinstruction, spelling words, and vocabulary.Teaching special education, it seems that my students are usually grouped in theteacher/child ratio. Within those small groups there are a variety of reading levels andadjustments that have to be made. We have reading groups everyday in my classroom. Mystudents on with my teammates students are grouped according to ability. Even with thattype of grouping remediation for some students is needed because of their rate of progress. It was stated in video program five that struggling readers need repetition, practice, and explicitinstruction (Bear,2004). I try to provide this through different modalities. One strategy is a computerprogram called Intelli-talk. This is a program similar to Cowriter or Write Out Loud. It allows information to beinputted into the system by the teacher and it will orally read the directions, any reading oractivities that go with the lesson. This program also allows pictures to be associated with vitalvocabulary in the reading in the form of a word bank. By clicking on a picture the studentscan review a brief definition of the word and hopeful this will aid them in completing thevocabulary/ experience activities. This program will also allow the teacher to make a wordweb and using the pictures mentioned early, the students can match the correct word with thepicture. This is a great way to have students review independently what was read or discussed previously in a small group setting. This also allows the teacher to meshed in another activitywith other students without having to be directly one on one with another student. My students are tested annually on four hundred basic sight words using the Brigance test. Anywords that the students do not know how to read are given to them as spelling words. Thestudents are expected to know what the word means, how to read and spell the words by the endof the week. Supplemental activities for classwork and homework are given as a reinforcement.

My Typical American Family :: Traditions Cultures Cultural Essays

My Typical American FamilyWhat is a typical American? What is generally viewed as a typical American is that your family has lived here for years and years and you dont personally know who immigrated here. Along with this, your family has molded into this typical view with no foreign traditions and things. A lot of people in my class can talk virtually their relatives that speak another language or take a shit immigrated here. I dont have anything like that so Ill tell you about mine.According to BlaunerMembers of an ethnic group hold a set of common memories that make them feel that their customs, culture, and outlook are distinctive. My family doesnt pass down stories or anything. No real passed on customs, no immigrant stories. Takaki thinks everyone should be educated in all culture that makes America so diverse. I dont really have a culture. My family more than or less assimilated to the traditional mainstream American. AS far as I know, I am Irish, German, and Native American . Where or when each came together, I dont know. Randall Bass saysIndividuals condescend their sense of identitiy from their culture, and cultures are systems of beliefs that determine how people live their lives.Well I have my own story. Ill start by talking about my mothers side of my family. As far as I know both my granddaddyrents grew up and lived in Detroit. They raised my mom and Uncle there excessively. My grandma stayed at home while my grandpa fixed airplanes. Its kind of cool because he was in WWII also to fix the fighter planes. They were fairly well off and had a boat on the river. Theyre dry land is Irish and German. Although they never personally told me there was German,Im taking an educated guess because the last name (Volkening) looks really German. My dads side is German and Native American. Ive been told I have relatives in Germany with the same last name although Ive never met them or know their names. My grandma also stayed at home and my grandma worked in a factory. They too lived in Detroit and raised my dad and my two Uncles in a two-bedroom house. My dad slept in the laundry room next to the water heater because there wasnt comme il faut room in the other two rooms. My parents both met in Detroit and lived there for about twenty years. Both my parents worked through college to help pay for each others tuition.
